Tokyo – I miss you

July 29th, 2012

Tokyo was, as you probably gathered earlier, great. Going home just feel boring, sure, I felt sick and tired the last couple of days but I would have taken two days off to rest I would have been ready and up for more Tokyo adventures.
We spent 14 days in this wonderful city, and left still feeling that we left too much undiscovered ground.

We got to see at least Shibuya, Aikhabara, Harajuku, a little Shinjunku, Ginza, and Asakusa.
We missed the cosplay at Harajuku but got to see a wedding and the Meiji Shrine. We went up in the Tokyo Tower as well as the Skytree and managed to track down the Godzilla statue in Ginza.
We spent a lot of money in Aikhabara and managed to get across the busy crossing at Shibuya. We missed out on the Ghibli musuem but went to the Ueno Zoo and stumbled upon the Sensoji temple during our last night there. Not too forget, we managed to get the metro system and did find me some veggie food to eat.

I think I’ve snapped about 600 pics, all of them still on the SD-card since both me and Lev got sick after coming home. One day some of them might make an appearance here.

Anyways, I miss Tokyo and the adventure. Now I’m feeling bored and want more.

Travel

July 29th, 2012

It’s weird, we’ve only been home for 3 days and I already have the itch for going somewhere else.

Home seems so boring, I feel a need to be out and experiencing new things and places. I wish I discovered that feeling before I grew up to this responsible adult with a home and a job to take care of… Haha.

Anyways, it can’t hurt too just look around, right?

Shibuya, Ginza and Harajuku

July 15th, 2012

Today we finished up our fourth day in Tokyo. Let me just say this, it is very intense and at times extremely overwhelming.

First we got the weather, temperature seems to have been around a steady 30 degrees Celsius. Adding to that is that the extremely humid.

Then we got neon lights, screaming sales persons, and huge masses of people crossing streets and changing trains at the various metro stations.

Friday we spent in Shibuya, browsing around stores and checking out people. We managed to locate the Resident Evil café but as it was closed we need to re-visit.

Saturday we went to Ginza for a shorty. Ginza seems to be very upscale with fancy smancy stores like Prada and such, nothing for me and Lev, of course.
After dark we went for a walk along the Sumida River and snapped some pics.

Today was Sunday and we went to Harajuku and that place is wicked intense. Shop owners screaming outside their stores to attract customers, so much people you can’t turn around without knocking someone down and tons of fun stuff to buy. We missed to cosplay at the park so we’re going back next Sunday.
After Harajuku we went home for a quick break consisting of a cool down shower for me, then we headed out again. We went down to Ginza and to Tokyo Tower.
Tokyo Tower is like the Eiffeltower in Paris, but actually a bit taller. We went up to the main observatory and got a great view of Tokyo, then we went down and got ice cream at BaskinRobbins.

After a long day out I’m tired, looking forward to watching someting, fall asleep and then tomorrow take on Aikhabara with Lev!

Tokyo

July 12th, 2012

After 24 hours on the move we are finally in Tokyo, checked in safely at hour hotel.

The day started in Malmö at 7 am when we jumped on the bus down to the central station, we switched to train and was soon over the bridge and at Kastrup, where we departed from.
We immediately ran into some problems when the self check-in machine didn’t think that Levs passport and ticket matched but we got help at the SAS counter and everything worked out.

At 10:20 am our plane to Moscow took off, it was a small and crammed plane but the flight only took about 2 hours so it was ok.

I can’t say the time when we landed in Moscow as we went forward 2 hours and I get confused, haha. Anyways, we had like a 5 hour wait ahead of us and it was kind off a drag considering that the airport was really boring we had forgot to exchange some money into the russian currency. You live, you learn, I’m gonna get some rubels for the way back at least.

So yeah, we spent 5 hours at the airport, and I, of course, had by then developed a bad headache. After some looking around we finally a bench that was big enough for me to lay down on, with the soar neck and all.

From Moscow to Tokyo we flew with Aeroflot. Big and nice airplane, as well as staff that arranged for a veggie meal for me when I had forgot to reserve one ahead of time. The flight was a 9 hour one, I still had a really bad headache but managed to sleep maybe half of it, the rest was spent eating and trying not to throw up. Lev watched two movies (both with Tom Cruise, I hope he won’t turn to scientology now…)

It was really nice to land at Narita Airport, it had been a long day and we were both feeling tired, sweaty and overall, a bit gross. Narita is very efficient and there is always someone around to help you out, we just went up to the counter where you buy train tickets and showed her a map at the location of our hotel and she directed us to what train to take and when, also got maps of the very big and a bit confusing subway system.
We got on the right train, managed to do the switch at the right station and ended up at the metro station closest to our hotel.

Since we had a stupid and not very detailed map it was a bit confusing at first to find the hotel, we started walking in the wrong direction but soon found an information sign with a map and managed to find our hotel.

At 24 hours on the go we finally checked into our hotel, took a well deserved shower and just relaxed. First day here was slow, we arrived at 2 pm and we just went outside and got us some food at a grocery store.

Tomorrow we’re taking on Tokyo!

Last week I almost killed my thumb. Or at least it felt like that.

Now it just looks ugly and bruised.
