Just got home

May 31st, 2008

I just got home from celebrating a belated Mother’s Day with my parents and sister at a camping next to the beach. Had good time, took some pics and will probably write about it tomorrow.
Now I need to watch King of the Hill and go to bed.

May 31st, 2008

I’ve been up for a while, taken my pollen allergy medicine as usual and managed to eat breakfast before the meal would officially be classified as a lunch or a dinner :-P
The sun is shining and the weather report on my computer is stating 17 degrees Celsius outside. As soon as this entry is posted I’m heading for the balcony with my book. See ya all later.

Yay or Nay: week 22

May 30th, 2008

yay.jpg

  • IKEA: It might sound cliché as hell, but I like IKEA a lot. Cheap stuff and most of it actually is off better quality. Cheaper furnitures for the win!
  • Grocery stores importing American food: We went to City Gross today (big grocery store) and they actually have a decent section of American food, we found Mac&Cheese, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Beef Jerky, Pancake syrup and a tons of other things. It’s starting to get more common to find those type of shelves with “world food” at stores now, and I embrace it.
  • The weather: Nice and sunny, just the way I like it, and it’s suppose to continue over the weekend. Tomorrow morning will be spent in a chair on the balcony reading a good book.
  • The Dollar: It’s not good for Americans but for us that likes to shop on Ebay, the dollars value towards the Swedish krona is great now. About 3 years ago you got one dollar for 10 kronor, now it’s down below 6 kronor. Crazy.
  • Body Butter from Body Shop: Best stuff ever, especially when you got sensitive skin like me.
  • nay.jpg

  • Peanut butter: I’ve tried to like this but I can’t. It’s not that great in candy and it’s not good in a sandwich either.
  • Renovations: Mainly because it’s a big ordeal and we have to move our furnitures around all the time.
  • Adlibris: They finally sent off my book package, thing is that they just sent of the books that is in Swedish, the two English ones I ordered is gonna be sent later, even though they claim to be able to ship them within 2 to 5 working days. It’s bad, and it’s not the first time.
  • Gas prices: What the hell are they thinking, it’s over $2 for one liter/litre of gas over here now and it’s probably getting more expensive to as a rising of the demand is expected for the summer. I’m glad that we live one of the communes in Sweden that has gas stations that has the best prices on gas.
  • Store fridges: You know when you go to a store and buy one of those cold cans/bottles of cold soda that they usually store in a big fridge? Well, here in Sweden they seemed to have missed the concept, the sodas are never cold enough even though you grab them out of a fridge and I’m guessing that it’s due to the stores being to cheap. Cheapskates!

    We’re back!

    May 30th, 2008

I woke up at 5 am this morning, I dunno why but I actually went out of bed then. At 7 am we were scheduled for the vehicle inspection, which went really good in my opinion, now, the car actually didn’t pass it but the only thing that was wrong was a strut at one of the front wheels and not the shock absorbers as I expected. Why this is good is because changing the shock absorbers would cost my several thousands kronor, about 5000 to be correct (about $830) changing a strut, well, that will cost an couple of hundreds hopefully. So, now my dad is gonna fix this problem and after another vehicle inspection the car will hopefully be good to go another year :-)

Around 7:30 am the electricians showed up at our place, we had to unplug the server (the only thing that we hadn’t shut off) and then they cut the power. As we have nothing to do at home and since we didn’t want to be around people we don’t really now we took the car and went for a longer trip. We went to Helsingborg and visited southern Sweden’s biggest mall there called “Väla” I got a Mother’s Day gift for my mom and Lev got a cool clock at Clas Ohlson, after that we went to IKEA and got some stuff. Lev got a big box to keep chords in and two desk covers. I ended up getting a sheet for our bed, magazine holders, scented candles and batteries :-P Haha, glamorous.

After all that walking around we actually had lunch outside and eventually went home. When we came home the electricians were done and gone, very nice. So, now all our outlets and switches are replaced, all outlets for roof lamps and the main power central in our apartment is also changed. This whole ordeal was good, they fixed the lamp over our sink that has been broken.

However, I’m really tired now, even though I napped 2 hours or so earlier when we came home. It’s been a long day, but it’s also been a good day and I feel that luck was perhaps on my side today when thinking of the car.

Tomorrow is a new day, I’m hoping for fabulous weather, if so, I will spend the morning in a chair on the balcony reading. Me and my sister is hooking up with our parents later in the afternoon at a camping (they went out with their RV just some hours ago, and they’re staying out all weekend) in order to celebrate Mother’s Day. We will be eating BBQ and watch TV on my parents 15 inch TV that they have in their RV :-P Haha, maybe not, but we always joke about doing so.

Now I’m hungry, gotta go make a cute face so Lev will make me food :-D I got the greatest boyfriend, he makes me food all the time.

    Almost done

    May 29th, 2008

I’m almost done with my list now, I just gotta take down a lamp in our hallway (for the electric guy tomorrow) and take out a bunch of trash. The car is fixed and washed, it had two lamps that was broken so me and my dad fixed it. Well, he fixed them, I just watched and handed him tools :-P Haha.
Everything looks weird around here, we have been moving tons of furnitures around so that the electrician will have easy access to all outlets. And then in 24 hours we gotta move it all back :-P Haha. Well, we get new and grounded outlets out of this deal so it isn’t the end of the world.

Tomorrow, if I remember when the electricity back, I’m thinking of introducing a weekly list of some kind. What I mean is a list that will show up every Friday, I’m currently thinking of having two categories, like yay or nay, but I’m not sure yet. You gotta see if I come up with something tomorrow or not, by days are really busy now a days.

I kinda gotta run, I got some things to do still. I just remembered now that I was supposed to water all my plants on the balcony too :-P

    Clean as a whistle

    May 29th, 2008

Sometimes I surprise myself. Like today, I have a list of things to do and I’m actually following it! I even cleaned behind the stove which wasn’t even on the list. Left for today is to clean the living room and the hallway, which won’t take that long as it’s pretty clean already.
Then the only thing left is Lev’s den, I promised that I would help him clean that today. Problem is that he has tons of things that he stores in there, and it takes forever to go through everything…

Tomorrow is the day when we won’t have any electricity what so ever for the majority of the day. I also have to go to one of those vehicle inspections with the car early in the morning. I’m pretty sure that the car won’t pass the inspection and depending on how much it could cost to repair it we might not have access to our own car for a long time.
I’m not gonna spend a lot of money fixing a car that I despise, I rather spend those for a future purchase of a newer and more expensive car than to blow them on that old piece of garbage. Besides, I can take the bus if I need to go somewhere, and for shopping, well anyone heard of e-commerce? We’ll see how it all turns out tomorrow, I better go outside and fix up my bike :-D Haha.

The electricity is a big bummer, we won’t be able to work and all the sites hosted on the TT server will be down during that time. Plus, we got to move all the furnitures that might be in the way for the guy changing the stuff. Remember I said that they will be replacing all outlets and stuff? Well, just imagine all the furnitures that we have to move for this now….

Well, I gotta get going, I got a tons of things to do today, including a trip to parents later tonight… *pheeew*

Does Mario and Luigi have a sister?

    May 28th, 2008

    relations1.jpg

I didn’t write the title because I’m just as chubby as Mario or whiny as Luigi. No, I wrote it because I’m one hell of a plumber (well, maybe not)

The sink in the bathroom has been all weird lately, it’s been taking a long time for the water to disappear down the sink and today it clogged up totally. It’s not the first time and the previous times we have solved it easily by just using one of those drain cleaners where chemicals do the job. We tried that today to of course, seeing as it has worked perfectly before, but, quickly found out that it would do the job. I hate when something isn’t working as it should, and when I have a feeling that I could fix it myself I usually try a couples of times before giving up, this time was one of those.
So, I grabbed a bucket, and I unscrewed the trap underneath the sink. I let the water run out in the bucket and then I just unscrewed the pipe going from the sink down to the drain and cleaned it throughly. I hope that we get a new sink and especially a new pipe during our bathroom renovating cause when looking at it today, it doesn’t look good and I understand why it can easily get clogged. I guess that’s the way it can go if the pipes are old (which I assume in this case)
Anyways, I cleaned the pipe as much as I could, screwed it back on and voilá, we got ourselves a working sink where the water drains perfectly again. Maybe I should change directions in my life and become a plumber?

    Tattoo parlor

    May 28th, 2008

As soon as I have taken a quick shower and gotten dressed we’re jumping in the car and driving to a tattoo parlor where we’re meeting my dad and sister. Everyone besides me seems to be getting a tattoo, I don’t mind tho, I’m waiting until I’ve found the design I would want. I wonder what all three of them are gonna end up with :-P

    Futurama

    May 28th, 2008

While I was at it writing about Seinfeld and all I though of another completed collection, the 4 seasons of Futurama which has been released on DVD. It was actually Lev that helped my out completing the collection as he gave me the last season for Christmas. Truth to be told, I actually loved Futurama when I was younger but found Simpson’s a bit boring and overrated. Anyways, don’t we wanna see pics?

    Seinfeld

    May 28th, 2008

Did anyone manage to miss Seinfeld? I actually did, but got familiar with the show a couple of years ago when I first met Lev. Back in those days we always watched tons of the Simpson’s and when we got bored of that show Seinfeld had so fill in. Seinfeld grew stronger and it’s one of my favorite shows, the stories are cleaver and funny and I have memorized so much fact from the various episodes that it’s ridiculous.
I bought the first season about a year ago I would think, I wanted something new to collect and Seinfeld is a favorite. Just a bit after Christmas I bought the last season, I own all 9 of them now. It’s sad, cause now I need something new to collect but at the same time it feels great cause now my collection is complete :-)
