Back to D-Link

August 4th, 2008

We switched all computers and stuff to our new broadband yesterday. It took us/Lev a long time to get it all working, all thanks to our router.
We did get it setup properly but the connection has been dropping ever since and it’s been as bad as the connection has only stayed for like 15 mins at the time. We can’t work like that, let alone have a server with that type of a connection so today we had to go out and get a new router.

We got a really nice D-Link router, and so far everything is working fine. Hope it stays that way.

(If anyone wanna know more about the router and it’s specs I advice you to visit Lev, he knows more about than I do :-P )

100Mbit/s

August 1st, 2008

By the way, just felt that I had to mention that I’m now hooked up to a 100 Mbit/s line ;-)

This won’t affect the loading on my blog as the server is still hooked up to the old line, the line where BBB is screwing us over and the broadband is almost unusable.

There’s a bug in my monitor!

August 1st, 2008

God damn it! This happened to Lev like 2 years ago and now it has happened to me, there’s a bug behind the screen of my TFT-monitor. These little bugs are called thrips and are very small, meaning that they can get in anywhere basically.

I really hope it leaves I can’t stand having that little bugger in my sight all day, moving around the screen or even worse dying in the middle of the screen and staying there forever. Leave now!

Stupid bug.

All work and no fun makes NeroAnima go crazy

July 29th, 2008

The last two days at work has been stressful, there are so many e-mails to answer and go through every day and it seems as I’m the only one working in my department right now.
E-mails that I can’t answer is pilling up and I have to deal with frustrated clients every day, making everything very stressful for me. Add to that our crappy internet connection which leads to having pages take a minimum of 60 seconds to load, not to mention how bad of a connection I get when talking to people using Skype… Frustrating!

I need to nag to Lev so he can at least hook me up to the new broadband (routers and switches are in the way for me) Since we have static ip with our current ISP we’re a bit hesitant to change the server over and it’s not so nice feeling that you have to pay two companies for a service just because one of them is screwing us.

Bringsome

July 24th, 2008

Anyone else heard of Bringsome?

I first heard about this site from Lev, who had seen a clip about on BBC I think, and instantly thought it was such a cool idea.
The idea is based on people putting up ads for stuff they like but can’t get a hold of, like foreign candy or anything else for that matters. I’ve seen ads where people have bought something abroad and then later realized how much they loved the product and now want more of it, you know, like some sort of booze, soap or as mentioned earlier, candy. You can also put up an ad stating from what country or what stuff you can get for other people.
I love the idea and actually signed up for an account today, not that there’s anything that I really want a this point but to help the site grow and to offer my services if anyone wants something from Sweden (I can hook y’all up! haha)

Shady business by BBB (Bredbandsbolaget)

July 23rd, 2008

Anyone noticed that my blog has been slow? Lev’s blog? TT? Our internet connection has been so slow the last week that it’s almost unusable, it’s like having a dial up modem.

We have been with Bredbandsbolaget (our ISP, also referred to as BBB) for over 3 years now and have once in a while noticed that the connection has been bad, all to often it has happened that our connection has been reset during nights (the reason for why we got a static IP with them), not to mention how our phone rings now and then without someone on the other line besides some weird tone, but as there was no better alternative we had to stick with them.
A few weeks back we got an outlet installed in our apartment, an outlet that gives us access to an “open broadband net” with our landlord with the ability to have a 100mb/100mb connection. We were thrilled, no more BBB, so we called and terminated our service with them the same night we found out the outlet was gonna be installed. After that point of terminating our contract we have noticed our connection just getting worse and worse, to the point that it now feels that we’re using a dial up connection. It takes me over a minute to access my bank accounts, access tickets at work, loading my blog or trying to search something on the net. I can not stand this lousy connection and I avoid sitting by my computer after work is over because of it.
We thought of calling them as we do believe, both me and Lev, that they have switched us over to a busier server or whatever due to that we terminated our contract. I’m sure of it, they seem to be that type of people too, which is so sad. The reason for us not calling is that there is basically no point, they will never admit our lousy connection and as our contract is all over in like two months (three months notice) I doubt they even care.
We’re thinking of hooking us up to the broadband through our apartment soon, meaning that we have to pay for two services for like 2-3 months or something, but I guess it’s worth it as the current connection is just horrible. It’s just to bad that we have to pay extra money each money cause our current ISP doesn’t like customers cancelling their contracts….
I’ve got an answer to them about that: offer a better service to better prices and you wouldn’t have that problem!

SonyEricsson Z770i

July 17th, 2008

Went out today, with my sister. She needed a new cellphone and as I was chosen as the “come along victim”. She got this really neat SonyEricsson, in black with blue details, really nice looking.
Now I want a new cellphone too, to bad my current one refuses to break down and die! Haha, damn Nokia for their good quality :-P
I liked the one my sister got so I got all hooked on the same model, just different colors. It’s gonna take me a few days but I’ll come to my senses eventually and decide to wait until my current cellphone is out of commission.
My current cellphone is a Nokia and I’ve had it for about 4 years, it has all the fancy functions (that I don’t use even) such as built in camera, mp3 player, internet, bluetooth… everything you get in a new cellphone now a days. I’m tired of it cause I’ve had it for so long but I’m not so stupid that I will spend a lot of money on a new one when it’s not needed, just cause I’m bored of it, I gotta draw the line for stupidity somewhere… Haha, bad for me but good for my economy :-D

Gosh, I’m such a sucker for technological things…

I’ve got a laptop

July 4th, 2008

My parents are going on a 3 week vacation today, I volunteered to babysit their laptop :-D It has Windows on it, but I’ll try to cope for 3 weeks :-P The only issue now is that it only got IE, and I can’t stand IE. I also know that my dad doesn’t like me installing things, as he most likely have no clue what they are for and such. But I think I’ll install Firefox and then uninstall it before I give the computer back :-P Haha.

Now I gotta eat breakfast. I’ve managed to eat on a decent schedule now for 4 days, I managed to eat 3 bigger meals and snacks such as fruit. I’m feeling really good, my blood sugar keeps on a good level all the time instead of being like a roller coaster as it usually is. Damn, I’m almost proud of myself :-D
